Sizing

Make It Fit

Sizing involves increasing or decreasing the size of a ring, necklace, or bracelet. This is a delicate process particularly if stones are mounted.

Step One

Your jewellery is inspected; Advice will be offered if we spot issues you may not have considered. The article will be returned to you in 1 to 3 days.

Step Two

For the majority of rings, the bottom of ring shank is opened using a jeweler’s saw. A sliver of corresponding metal is added to size up a ring or removed to size down a ring. For a chain or bracelet, we add or subtract links to lengthen or shorten it before reassembly.

Step Three

Your jewellery is polished, using brushes coated with different polishing compounds until the surface sparkles.

Step Four

Your jewellery is then cleaned with an ultrasound cleaner or other professional alternatives if needed. Ultrasound is safe for most jewellery, except for those containing delicate gems like emeralds and pearls.

Step Five

Rhodium plating only if applicable. This coating of a precious metal from the platinum family is often applied to enhance the whiteness of white gold jewellery. To ensure proper adhesion, any remaining layer of rhodium is polished away before a new layer is deposited on the surface.

Step Six

A final quality inspection.
