1925
Martin Clement Ng was born. In 1950, shortly after World War II, Martin Clement Ng started his jewellery making business in the Northern Region of Peninsular Malaysia. Even though his business was small-scale, it doesn’t hinder his sons’ enthusiasm in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to transcend in the traditional jewellery industry.
1970
At the age of 18, Jude, the second son in the family started to self taught his way to learn the intricate skills of handcrafting the finest jewellery one could possibly imagine. When Jude made profits from his work, he spent it wisely on collecting precious gems from all over the world. He is fascinated by the beauty of natural gems that drove his desire to create beautiful and long lasting jewellery.
1974
Jude’s fervent passion for fine jewellery art and precious gems led him to found Kae Jih Hobby House of Gems, named after his Grandfather, Kae, at the heart of UNESCO World Heritage city—Georgetown, Penang. Soon after Kae Jih was established, Jude’s younger brothers John and Michael joined the firm, both are the first few Gemologists in Malaysia who have graduated from Gemological Institute of America and Gemological Association of Great Britain.
1979
Jude Ng married a young girl named Jo Loo, a talented Jewelry Designer whose passion for jewellery design is exceptionally ardent. The young lovers had much in common: youthful enthusiasm, a persevering spirit, and a passion for precious stones. Over the years that followed, they succeeded in making Kae Jih synonymous with one of the best Jewellers specializing in precious stones and handcrafted jewellery. Their achievement since then, had passed onto the next generation.
2008
Dorothy Jen Ng – a 3rd generation jeweller , Gemologist and talented jewellery designer whose passion for customized jewellery and knowledge of gemstones were inherited from many generations of family heritage. Her childhood was spent watching her father working on the bench, handcrafting the finest jewelleries which sparks her obsession with gemstones.
2014
With unyielding spirit towards unsurpassable fine jewellery that evokes youthful and modern reinvention of the classics, Dorothy established Frou Frou to instill the timeless beauty of European jewellery into the practicability of jewellery wearing for contemporary living which creates a sense of modern day romance. Frou Frou is simply a unique family heritage born of the love and passion for precious gemstones and fine jewellery.
