Refinishing
Back to the Showroom Finish
Refinishing restores the surface of your jewellery to its original showroom finish without altering its shape. By sanding in progressive stages, fine layers of metal are removed; the deeper scratches disappear.
Step One
Your jewellery is inspected; Advice will be offered if we spot issues you may not have considered. The article will be returned to you in 1 to 3 days.
Step Two
Your jewellery is sanded with progressively finer abrasives to remove the deeper scratches.
Step Three
Your jewellery is polished using brushes coated with different polishing compounds until the surface sparkles.
Step Four
Your jewellery is then cleaned with an ultrasound cleaner or other professional alternatives if needed. Ultrasound is safe for most jewellery, except for those containing delicate gems like emeralds and pearls.
Step Five
Rhodium plating only if applicable. This coating of a precious metal from the platinum family is often applied to enhance the whiteness of white gold jewellery. To ensure proper adhesion, any remaining layer of rhodium is polished away before a new layer is deposited on the surface.
Step Six
A final quality inspection.
